Composer and Conductor Major – Composition (Artistic Music Course)

In the Artistic Music Course, students learn composition techniques from classical to contemporary music while cultivating their creativity and adaptability by composing pieces for various instrumentations.
Students interested in composing and arranging commercial music, such as theater music and game music, can take multimedia lessons based on art music. Students also have many opportunities to perform their compositions.

Students are free to choose their instructors each year.
In Music Theory, students learn orchestration in their first and second years and computer music and wind music composition/arrangement in their third year. Fourth-year students improve their overall composition skills with the aim of further developing their individuality.

Composer and Conductor Major – Composition (Music Media Course)

To become immediate assets in the music industry, students learn basic composition and arrangement methods required in the commercial music field, and practice pre-production, studio recording, and self-produced CD production. This program seeks to nurture individuals who can meet the needs of the times, respond to diverse media, and have the ideas and intelligence to actively share their music with the world.

In the first year, students are required to submit assignments multiple times a week to cultivate the habit of composing music every day.
In the second year, students develop the ability to compose a piece that meets specified instrumentation, arrangement, length, usage, purpose, and other requirements.
After the second year, students can take elective courses for in-depth study of keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, songwriting, etc.
In the third year, students acquire orchestration skills appropriate for pop music, such as big bands and strings arrangements, and learn how to compose and arrange music for typical instrumentations.
In the fourth year, students learn practical studio recording and arranging.
As a graduation project, students produce a self-produced CD of their compositions.
In Computer Assisted Composition, first- to fourth-year students acquire cutting-edge skills that are not limited to music production.
