As most classes are conducted in Japanese, you should have good command of Japanese language. Applicants must pass at least N2 of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (https://www.jlpt.jp/e/).

MLA applicants

You do not need to submit a certificate of Japanese language proficiency, but we recommend you to study Japanese before you arrive to Japan as some classes are held in Japanese only.

Exchange students

Japanese language ability is not required, but we recommend you to study Japanese before you arrive to Japan if you would like to take some unique classes conducted in Japanese at TCM. As MLA is an English based program, you must have a good command of English to understand MLA classes.

Student Visa

Successful applicants need to apply for student visa in order to enroll in Tokyo College of Music. Some of the documents necessary for visa application must be issued by TCM, so make sure to contact us as soon as possible after the announcement of results.

※ Please note that international applicants who hold a Japanese visa other than a student visa are not eligible for taking the entrance examination for international students.
