Instrumental Major – Wind and Percussion

Through lessons given by world-renowned professors, we aim to nurture musicians with advanced technique and rich expressive power. Students improve their solo as well as ensemble techniques and acquire a broad knowledge of multiple instruments. By experiencing various ensemble types, students develop compassion for others and social skills.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra give regular concerts off campus at the culmination of their ensemble classes, and numerous other performances to gain experience. In addition, students have the opportunity to take extension lessons and lectures given by invited musicians from Japan and abroad.

• In the first year, students study the fundamentals of ensembles in Orchestra Ensemble, such as a homologous ensemble, woodwind quintet, and brass quintet.
• In the second year and above, students study orchestra, and all can play an active role in concerts.
• In Wind Ensemble, students from their first year learn ensemble music basics and applications and perform at many concerts. In addition, they comprehensively acquire the skills necessary to become wind band leaders.
