Exchange students and TCM students who study the Japanese traditional instrument koto gave a koto concert on July 25, 2023. As well as the performance of the traditional koto music, this concert had a cultural exchange component. Helmi Tikkanen on the double bass performed “Haru no Umi (Spring Sea)”, which is originally a duo for the koto and the shakuhachi, and Miranda Raffo’s composition “The South Downs Theme” was played on the koto. As an encore, “Sakura Sakura (cherry blossoms)” was sung to the koto with the lyrics of different eras.
